Scale Panel |
The Scale panel lets you adjust the size and placement of the foreground or background image.
The red lines show the proportions of the final output. In our case the output bitmap and input put bitmap are almost in the same proportion.

Notice what happens when the background is selected, the background is going off the screen to the left.
That is because the background was wider then it was tall so only a corner of the background could be shown.

When we look at this image we have the feeling that the princess is floating and not part of the background. We need to move the background so that we can see the flat area that she is sitting on and we need to move it to the left so we can see the fire. This is done by placing the mouse on the red square and holding the left button down and then moving the mouse up, down, left or right. This is referred to as dragging the image. (You cannot put your mouse in the actual image area)
Here we dragged the background into the proper place. Much nicer! This is also a lesson in how hard it is to have good backgrounds. There has to be a place for the person to sit and have enough of the background showing so that it is still interesting.

Just for fun let’s move the princess down and make her a bit bigger. Do not forget to click on the foreground button to do this.

Now we have created a nice balanced image.
